“Words… innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos… If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little or make a poem which children will speak for you when you’re dead.”

– Tom Stoppard

This is my story.

Ever since I was a young child, I have always loved stories. Growing up in rural northern New South Wales, the child of two teachers, I buried myself in books and became captivated by the power of language to paint pictures, engage and convict.

My love of language and narrative drew me to Sydney to complete a literature degree. I then took on various in-house editorial roles, using my skills and knowledge to polish and perfect a variety of material.

After raising two children, I began to consider my next step. With a strong desire to help others to engage with literature and communicate effectively, I decided to pursue a teaching qualification.

But although teaching was deeply satisfying and I loved helping young people to embrace the power of literature and language, I never let go of my roots as an editor.

Having worked as a freelance editor concurrently with my teaching for many years, I eventually decided to throw myself into this pursuit full-time.

I pride myself on my ability to work with people engaged in a diverse range of projects – from a family historian working on a personal project to a large agency creating content for multiple clients. I help people to harness the power of language: the power to tell the stories that they want to tell, or to convey the information that they need to convey.

I have a special interest in working with schools, theological and educational publishers, non-profit organisations and authors, but I am comfortable with material of all sorts.

I am married with two adult daughters and live in Sydney. When not editing, I can be found listening to music, going to the theatre, singing, or deep inside the world of a book.
